Move Over Daily Multi...

Do you crawl through the aisles of GNC or Whole Foods searching for the perfect, all-inclusive multi-vitamin that will boost your energy and keep you healthy? It's confusing. One day you read an article that tells you to RUN and get your multi, and the next day you hear on the news that most vitamins are synthetic chemicals that your body gets no use out of - in essence, waste of money.

I've researched vitamins, supplements, herbs, etc for over 20 years. Personally I decided not to take a multi, but instead to supplement with pure herbs that align with my dosha (body type).

Ayurveda promotes a daily dose of it's miracle-performing, more-than-multi-vitamin herbal formula: Chyavanprash. I see it regularly at the Indian grocery store, but every time I recall that processed white sugar is the main ingredient (such as in Dabur brand), I put it back on the shelf. Sugar is not one of the ingredients in authentic Chyavanprash....honey is. And there is a big difference.

According to the Charaka Samhita (the over 2000-year-old scripture defining Ayurveda)

"Chayavanprash is the foremost of all rasayanas, especially good for alleviating cough and asthma, nourishing the weak, the wounded, the old, and those that are of tender years as well. Through the use of this rasayana a person acquires intelligence, memory, comeliness of body, freedom from disease, longevity, strength of the senses, great increase in the strength of the digestive fire, improvement of the complexion, and preserve the harmony of the three doshas ."

Furthermore, Chayavanprash's principal ingredient, amalaki, has an extremely high vitamin C content in comparison with other edible fruits and promotes the healthy functioning of the immune system and expedites the healing process. The perfect blend of Ayurvedic herbs acts as a cardiac stimulant and helps in smooth functioning of the heart. Chayavanprash nourishes brain cells by supporting the nervous system and enhances co-ordination and memory. It is especially good for alleviating cough, colds and asthma. Chyavanprash helps purify blood and invigorates the liver and helps to eliminate toxins. It promotes Apan Vayu, the downward flow of energy in the body and relieves constipation. Chyavanprash is said to improve skin complexion and fights dermal bacterial infection. It promotes hair growth and helps absorption of calcium promoting strong bone tissue. The anti-oxidant properties of the tonic act to attenuate the ageing process and its attendant damage to tissues and organs. It also improves muscle tone by enhancing protein synthesis effectively.

The best thing about Chyavanprash is that it's good for all doshas and safe for everyone of all ages and conditions (of course, do check with your physician before taking this or any supplement.)

So start taking Chyavanprash, one spoon daily in the morning with a hot beverage of choice (milk or water suggested). Take small amounts from the spoon and sip beverage...do not take all at once. And most important - choose an authentic formula. Mainstream brands like Dabur contain artificial ingredients and do not place importance on quality, thus you will not derive the same benefits. Spending more on a quality product will pay more in return when you see the results.

My family takes authentic Chyawanprash by Lotus Blooming Herbs available on Amazon. I don't promote any product... this is just one that passed my stringent analysis of ingredients and quality.

To your good health!
