I am a mature, African American professional woman. I have been overweight most of my adult life. I am postmenopausal with anxiety, mild depression, arthritis (knees) and digestive disorders. I have had much difficulty staying on a food plan (diet). I crave sugar and carbohydrates. My dosha is Kapha. I am drawn to Ayurveda because of the focus on a wholistic approach to healing along with creating good gut health. Do you think you could help me adhere to a Ayurvedic lifestyle--I am not interested in temporary wellness, but rather a lifestyle shift. Thanks.

I agree with you, let's wait until June. You can reserve an appointment online now for early-mid June (no payment reqd). There are many websites out there on Ayurveda - I don't really use them. I prefer books and texts written by well-known and authentic Vaidyas (Ayurvedic doctors). Check out books by Vaidya Atreya Smith (my teacher), Dr Vasant Lad, Dr David Frawley and Dr Robert Svoboda. At your first visit, Vedic Health will provide you with a lot of material on Ayurveda, including a wonderful eBook written by Dr Suresh, articles, recipes, daily routines, and much more.
